Heading South . . . .

I'm off on a road trip south -- to help my Mom (AKA - G.G.) and my oldest sister, Sue, celebrate their birthdays this weekend. My bags are packed and in the PTCruiser, the fuel tank is full (@ $2.34/gallon), I have the new Scarpetta book on DVD ready for my listening pleasure, and there will be a stop at Sonic for a large Diet Vanilla Coke (easy ice, please) before I leave the city.
The picture below has absolutely nothing to do with my trip -- just like taking pictures of my petunias !!

Cruise Snapshots:: Part I

It was beautiful evening for our cruise -- clear skies and a light breeze. While we waited to board our boat, we toured the adjacent Chesapeake Boathouse.
We saw some rowers* getting their boat out of the water -- two young women who were more than happy to chat while they cleaned their boat. They told us, if we were interested, to take a look inside the Boathouse.
Wow -- just take a look at all those boats -- and some of them were over 20 foot long!
After our peek inside the Boathouse, the whistle sounded to let us know our boat -- The Pioneer -- was pulling into the dock. I'll try and post more cruise snapshots tomorrow.
* Is 'rowers' even a word -- have no idea the correct title/name. If anyone out there knows, please clue me in -- because I really want to know more about this fascinating/graceful sport.
P.S. I know I said that cruise pictures would be posted on Monday but it's been a hectic/crazy couple of days and when I started this post -- I thought it was Tuesday -- and, that I was only a day late !!

Summer Postcard IV :: Traveling

Two of the OKC grandbabes, their Mommy - (Laney, Joe and Jessika) and I traveled north for a visit with the KC branch of our family tree - (Uncle James, Aunt Emily and the KC girls: Sophia, Phoebe and Chloe).
Cousins played -- meals were shared-- and, memories were made -- We had a great time.

Here's Uncle James and Joe reviewing the finer points of a correct baseball swing as two of the KC girls waited their turn.
Our oldest grandchild, Sophia, demostrating the proper way to pick tomatoes for dinner.

All of us discovering that dinosaurs were roaming around at the Legends Mall in Kansas City.
Those large prehistoric critters were everywhere -- from the fountains --

to the dining rooms -- and, we were all suitably impressed.

But the biggest surprise was just how much the grandbabes loved cracking rocks (geodes to be exact) in the T-Rex Gift Shop.

Who knew that those dusty rocks could hold a beautiful treasure of sparkling crystals !!

Just goes to show that sometimes what is truly beautiful is on the inside.

A good lesson for us all !
