- 3/4 cup butter or margarine (room temp)
- 3/4 cup dark brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1-3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 cup cocoa power
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
- 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup milk chocolate chips
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. With an electric mixer, cream together sugars and butter until light & fluffy; add eggs and vanilla and blend well. Measure out flour into a bowl and add baking powder, soda, salt & cocoa; add to butter mixture slowly until a soft dough forms. Mix in chips and nuts. Shape into walnut size balls and place on parchment lined cookie sheets. Bake for 10-11 minutes, just until set (do not over bake). Cool on cookie sheets for 5 minutes before removing cookies to cooling racks. Yield: 3 dozen (recipe can be doubled)
