Give a woman a staple gun . . . . .

and, she will talk & laugh a lot while making bulletin boards - - - - lots of bulletin boards.
Pink & Green bulletin boards

Transformer bulletin boards
Purple & Green bulletin boards This past Monday night, our Stitchers group had a guest teacher. Pictures above are just a few of the amazing bulletin boards constructed that night. I'm sure we will be making many more of these -- a very fun project.

On a roll . . . . .

This past week, Nancy made a 'Crayon Roll' that's simple and so cute. At our meeting on Monday night -- she showed us how it was constructed and Wanda started cutting out the pieces to make one herself.
Can't wait to see all the variations this pattern will under go as it makes it's way through our Stitchers group. I'm already thinking of making a 'Spiderman Crayon Roll' for Joe or maybe one with lots of pink and purple for our middle KC Girl, Phoebe. I think we Stitchers are definitely on a roll -- because the possibilities for this little craft are endless !

Jane's Pretty Hat

Last night at 'Stitchers' we all admired Jane's latest creation -- a beautiful hat for her sister. It has a very nice lace edge - - - -

and an amazing swirly crown - - -

I simply cannot imagine knitting something like this -- with those dreaded 'double-pointed needles of doom'. And, I do admire Jane for sticking with this pattern even though she claims to have knitted and ripped out far too many times to count. She's very proud of this hat and we are even prouder of her !!!

Note: Although we are happy for Jane with the completion of her hat -- we aren't that happy about the reason for her hat. You see, her sister is battling breast cancer and this will be one of many 'Chemo Hats' she will be wearing in the coming months. We send prayers/good thoughts to Ilo (and her family) and she will be the most stylish patient in the treatment center.

Simple Pleasure & Inspiration too !

This past Monday night at my 'Night Stitchers' meeting all I had to do is look around the room to to find pleasure and inspiration in all the stitching projects going on - - - -

An almost finished lap quilt Carol is making for her son. This picture does not do justice to all the Autumn colors - it is beautiful.

Jane working on the final rows of her felted bowl – love that color and can’t wait to see this after she ‘felts’ it - - - -

Wanda’s first try at ‘Disappearing 9-Patch Blocks’ – she had this sewn up while the rest of us Stitchin' Gals were busy talking. I think it looks great.

One of our members -- Sherry, had surgery earlier this week and we missed her this past Monday night. We all brought fun things to fill a basket for her enjoyment during her recuperation. Nancy made the basket -- I'm so wanting to try my hand at making one of these.

Here’s a close up on the basket – isn't it pretty ??

Stitchers - Finished Objects and Works In Progress

The Stitcher gals have been busy.

Nancy's made this tiny baby hat for her little Grand-daughter -- we can't wait to see pictures of her modeling her new sun-hat. I have this pattern and after seeing how very cute it is -- I need to get one cut out for Baby Laney before the summer is over.
There's another baby blanket on the needles for Sherry and it's so lovely -- the picture truly does not do it justice. And, if I remember correctly, the pattern is Ostrich Plume. Some baby is going to be very blessed to receive this blankie.

Jackie found a number of Sun-Bonnet Sue quilt blocks in an antique shop and they followed her home. Currently, they are being sewn up into a quilt that will be auctioned at our church. Nancy is using fabric from her stash and sewing the blocks together with a beautiful borders/sashings. Here she is piecing away last night while Jackie & Wanda were busy with the pressing.

I love the colors in all those little squares and how they compliment the prints of the dresses and bonnets of the those antique little girls. Nancy has such an eye for color/prints and I'm sure this quilt will generate some fierce bidding and our church charity will reap the benefit of all their hard work on this quilt.
