Whole Wheat Goodness

Another treat from the Farmer's Market -
Organic Whole Wheat Flour, grown on a farm in Fairview, Oklahoma. While visiting with the vendor of this booth, we found out that their farm has been owned by the same family since the land run. Just one of the many reasons to support your local Farmer's Market. Where else to you get to actually talk to the people who produce the food you are buying and putting on your table. And, as far as I'm concerned, it's always a plus when you can support a family-owned farm -- there aren't many left out there.

Whole Wheat Waffles
3/4 to 1 cup whole wheat flour
2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
2 Tbsp honey
1 Tbsp cooking oil
1 cup buttermilk or milk
1 large egg

Combine dry ingredients in a large bowl, mix well. Add honey, oil, milk and egg, stirring to a smooth batter. Cook on hot griddle or in a waffle iron. Fresh fruit (blueberries, strawberries, bananas) or chopped nuts can be added to the batter.

Waffles with blueberries - they were amazing !
